Join us on a short sunset walk with Prof Frank Ventura to learn more about the summer solstice – an event which was possibly used in the past for calculating temple alignments and drawing up agricultural calendars.
After sunset we will return to the starting point to observe the night sky. Two telescopes for observation will be set up by the Astronomical Society of Malta (www.maltastro.org). This activity also forms part of the International Year of astronomy which is being celebrated to commemorate the 400th year since Galileo Galilei first looked at the sky through a telescope.
Refreshments and local products will be available for sale during the event thanks to the participation of the Manikata Farmers Cooperative (www.manikatafarmers.com).
